WHERE IS CIEP & NOVOSIBIRSK?

Novosibirsk is located geographically in the Heart of Russia. 2,812 kilometers from Moscow and 3,714 kilometers from Vladivostok.

Novosibirsk (New Siberia) was founded in 1893 as the location for the bridge over the Ob River. The 1,500,000 people now living in the new Siberian city create a cultural, academic, industrial, and technological gateway for the resources of Siberia.

Akademgorodok (Academic City) was built about 20 miles south of Novosibirsk in 1958 as the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

Novosibirsk State University was founded in 1959 with an enrollment of 1,200 students is located within the center of Akademgorodok. NSU offers challenging and innovative programs in the following fields: physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, economics, sociology, geology, geophysics, computer science, history, philosophy, and philology. The student/faculty ratio is and exceptional 4:1 with close associations established between NSU and the research institutes of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

CIEP is a program within the NSU Foreign Languages Department that offers foreign students the opportunity to immerse themselves within the heart our country, in Russian Language and Russian Culture!
